Uehara pitched for the Yomiuri Giants and was a two-time winner of the Japanese equivalent to the Cy Young. The 34 year-old Koji spent the last two years in the pen, but he will be a starter in Baltimore.He spent time in the pen not because of injury or lack of performance. Word has it that Uehara made his desire to play in America very public and Giants banished him to the pen for the last two years of his contract.
